The Rock Entertainment Complex is the home of Rockingham Speedway located in the Sandhills, right outside of Rockingham NC. World-famous Rockingham Speedway (formerly the North Carolina Speedway) – better known as “The Rock – first opened its doors in 1965 and was used by NASCAR as the home of the “American 500,” which was an annual race held for many years after the track’s opening. The final NASCAR Cup race was held in 2004. In 2007, The Rock was purchased & put back into use until 2014. On August 30, 2018 a group of North Carolina investors named Rockingham Properties LLC completed the purchase of the track. Now known as Rockingham Speedway & Entertainment Complex, there are plenty of events held on-site.
