WTC specializes in organizing oval and road course events for production-based race vehicles, using a unique handicap system to level the playing field. The Bracket GP, introduced at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in 2018, eliminates traditional classes, allowing teams to “run what you brung.” Using transponder scoring, cars are placed into track-specific speed brackets, with each bracket determining a head start per hour. Faster cars compete in Bracket Z, while slower cars in Bracket X receive a +1 lap per hour advantage, ensuring close competition throughout the race. With safety requirements similar to Chump Car and Lemons, Bracket GP allows amateur racers to strategically choose their bracket, giving all teams a fair shot at victory. This innovative approach to road racing has proven to be more effective than traditional methods used by major series.
